Song Requests/Complaints / Gone awhile...great song...
« on: February 16, 2013, 01:04:18 PM »
Don't have a lot of time; just wanted to say that i've been gone from DG quite a while - though not somewhere else, just not able to listen to music much lately - and i just turned it on and what do i hear?

X-rx's Push it!

Thank you so much.

Technical Support / Anyone else having this problem?
« on: March 06, 2011, 01:39:56 AM »
Is this the way it is or did my manwhore of a PC (i actually do not condone the use of the word 'whore' at all, but you gotta admit, the word 'manwhore' is pretty funny=) catch something behind my back? (which would be in front of me incidentally) Whenever i go into the forum the header disappears. No DG symbol for me to click on and get back to the homepage. i have to reload DG from my Favs in order to get to the home. This only happens when i go into Community. This is very recent; last week or so.

So did i *cough* catch something?

This might look weird to some, but comfort to others...

What is the weirdest drunk moment you ever had?

i will tell mine after 6 posts...(trust me, mine is worse)

General Discussion / Rally/March to Restore Sanity and/or Fear
« on: October 17, 2010, 02:12:55 AM »
So i don't know how many of you Americans out there respect Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert as real journalists the way they deserve, but i'm curious if anyone on here follows them?

Personally, i'm going to the rally on 10/30/10 and that's a huge thing for me to give up Samhain by going to some city filled with people i don't (care to) know.

Anyone else here in the states going? Just curious.

Name That Song! / Samples
« on: October 17, 2010, 01:56:59 AM »
i feel this deserves its own thread.

i'm usually up to task when it comes to knowing samples used in industrial music. After all, i've seen a plethora of film in mine days. But i ain't seen everything. And some of our beloved, artistic electronic artists just looove to use obscure film samples. Which you have to admit is just plain fucking cool. It lends something very unique and exotic to the genre.

So, this thread is for finding out and sharing the exemplars.

Heard a sample and it's killing you on the tip of your tongue?

Ask here.

Hey Shirow, maybe this needs its own division? Guess we can wait and see if anyone responds..

Name That Song! / "i never loved you anyway..."
« on: July 31, 2010, 12:31:59 AM »
...the verse is either that or "you never loved me anyway". Or both may be in the song. i know i've heard it - quite possibly literally - maybe a hundred times on DG. It's rather high BPM and the male singer reminds me of kind of Goth sounding vocalist. And that particular verse is sung rather emphatically i believe.

Any answers?

Anyway, it's been distracting me for the past couple of days so that i just spent the last 4 hours in the Music Database trying to find it. And i had much more pleasurable and fulfilling plans for this evening. But when i get focused on distraction, i......

=O something shiny outside mine window......

General Discussion / Anti-Virus-ish
« on: March 25, 2010, 08:16:10 PM »
OK, this is for all you tech-heads out there....

And seriously, i don't just want opinions, i want hard data...

My PC took a dump when i accidentally clicked on a link a coupla weeks ago. It's taken me a while to get everything back to 'normal'. So my query is this:

what's the best anti-virus out there?

i ran into an Italian guy at MicroCenter and he recommended Avira - free download - over buying anything from the store, even Nod. He claimed that they were all outdated anyway and overpriced. So i DL'd it and haven't really had any problems, but, like i said, he was some guy i ran into.

So, opinions?

Off Topic Discussion / just kinda random and mebe stoopid...
« on: February 21, 2010, 06:00:11 AM »
So i just got back to Michigan from Tennessee - where i spent three months taking care of my G-Ma before she passed - and it's strange 'coming back'. So my question is this:

What have you done for yourself lately?

The vacation you told yourself you would take. Did you? Why not?

Song Requests/Complaints / Songs not played by database artists
« on: December 11, 2009, 12:20:24 AM »
Yes, i know the name of the thread is somewhat sanitary or clinical but ....
Since you (Shirow) are so inundated with song/artist requests, perhaps a little breakdown will assist...

i propose this thread (feel free to rename it more apropos) where we can ask for particular songs off of a particular album to be put in the database. You (Shirow) can do with it as you will. Don't want to create more work for you, quite the opposite actually. But mayhap a Thumbs or rating tag is too much to ask? Anyway the point is to let listeners voice their wants regarding albums that are featured, yet some desired songs are left in limbo.

Yes, i recognize the fact that you (Shirow) have said that you only put tracts on that you consider congruent with DG's soul - however transient that may be - but i would like to say that i, and perhaps others, think there are some that fit that are left out.

And once again i say yes, i also realize that you have stated that you won't put every track of an album in rotation, because, if you like that damn album so much go buy it and listen to it...<--paraphrasing at its worst. Yet i agree.

The thing is, and this is only my few pennies, i listen to DG 90% of my auditory time, and though i LOVE to hear that which i have not before, once in a while i like to hear some things i really love. i have been surprised many a time by DG's playlist and am not ashamed to say, yet i also love the fact that i hear some 'ol favs here and there. And if it is a pain where the randomization is about a 'request only' database or some such? Where listeners could suggest tracts not in the DB to be put in a separate one for only requests? That way the general DG play would only be affected the same way that 2 songs played by the same artist happen in the course of an hour as happens sometimes now (and in no way am i bitching about that). Just some i turn it over to the public....

*i reserve the right to suggest some after others have done so as to not seem the overt douchebag i might be painting myself as*

General Discussion / concerning reviews
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:07:23 PM »
Query: When an individual submits a review is it able to be overridden by said individual and/or edited? Or is it a one time, one chance contribution?

status: begin...****

Let's say i want to click a few or more stars on a particular song, yet i really want to give an in-depth analysis of said particular song - or even album it shines from - at a later time, when i can properly collect my thoughts and contribute the time it so deserves. Can i then go back later and create/adjust/edit/change a commentary though i have already entered a 'star' review?

i realize that the rating system is in flux at the moment; my query refers to the current incarnation of the system. Any future developmental insights are, of course, a boon.

***status: end...***

damn, i get bored sometimes =)

Technical Support / requests/now playing queue
« on: December 05, 2009, 10:40:32 PM »
so i'll tackle 2 birds with one thread...

Firstly i just want to say that neither one of these is a complaint. In the years i have been listening since i was first fortunate to find DG, i have never had, nor do i ever forsee having any sort of real complaint. From heavenly harmonics to sonic stampedes, the auditory bliss is blessing indeed. Dare i say i am in love with DG? Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps? Can one make love to DG? Oh my, yes, and have i!

er, ahem

*excuses himself to clean all the ass-kissing from his face...

Anyway i was just curious about the 2 request benefit for subscribers. i've noticed that occasionally after one request it states that i have used up my requests for the day. But it is not constant nor consistent. Oh, DG, are you just playing hard to get?

Also the 'now playing' seems to be non synchronous with the song that is actually streaming. Now, mind you it could be that maybe it's fault on my end, as i'm making use of a rather older laptop with a not so great processor. However i have no problems streaming the subscriber server. But either the 'now playing' is one song ahead of what is streaming or what i am listening to is one song behind what it should be. Oh, DG, how you love to tease me!

thanks for reading...

General Discussion / CANCER
« on: November 22, 2009, 08:44:18 AM »
i know most sheeple will glance over this, but fuck you it's important to me. My Grandmother, the Matriarch of my family, has been battling cancer for over 2 years. She lost a whole lung and a breast and still fights HARD. i think this is the last 'holiday' season i will ever spend with her. So i will be gone for a while -online- but that is perchance no change considering i've been mute for over a year. So why am i saying this? Something as silly as a plug....but an important one. i normally don't advocate this shite but.....'meh'.......

if you've ever felt the hard tears and cold pain, then please, pledge. i don't give a fuck what your politics are, NO ONE DESERVES TO SUFFER LIKE THAT.Thank you for reading this.

Song Requests/Complaints / Retrosic
« on: November 20, 2009, 07:33:14 PM »
Not sure if this is the proper category for this, but here goes...

Didn't Retrosic used to be in rotation? i'm pretty sure i heard Desperate Youth, Unleash Hell and maybe even Bomb on here circa this time last year. It was why i bought the album at Amoeba when i was out in LA last October. Don't know how else i would have heard it because DG is the only station i listen to. Was it removed for some licensing issue.    Or am i just loony...
