Off Topic Discussion / Re: Your next concert.

Probably going to hit the Dethklok/Mastodon show next month.

EDIT: Though the Skinny Puppy show sounds like a pretty hot ticket, too.

I was very surprised at how well it runs on my Asus HA1000. Very fast for being based on Vista, and plays nice with just about everything I throw at it.

You'll be fine. Took me maybe an hour total to get my netbook partitioned, backups made, and get the RTM booting the installer off of a thumbdrive. The install process takes forever though. And then there's the problem with having to rearm until release so I can buy a valid license.

People still hang around SecondLife? News to me...

You should use the add/remove programs function in ubuntu rather than downloading the archives directly.

Though apt-get never failed me when I knew what I wanted.

If none of those players work, try Amarok. I've never had any problems with it when I boot into Debian-based distros.

A buddy of mine is freaking out about it, but I don't see much to get excited over. It's just another time-sink with no reward for your endless hours of grinding. I loved Anarchy Online's premise and setting, but the pointlessness killed the experience for me.

I'll stick to Team Fortress 2. At least I can win that.

I agree, but think about the workload on the two developers. Also keep in mind that they made each track by hand, and would have to do some monster coding to be able to strip even a high quality MP3 down to its constituent parts. Not to mention the copyright and bandwidth nightmare that would entail.

Desktop client: Very doable. Logical next step in my opinion.

A little variety won't kill you. I happen to like it, and it doesn't sound like it would be terribly difficult to get "genre-packs" in the future.

Saw on twitter the other day that Faderhead absolutely hates it. Though I doubt anyone cares.

Anyone else seen this film? For those who have not, it's very indie and I find it absolutely fantastic. The soundtrack is perfectly suited to the setting and tempo. And I'm really, really digging Encephalon's track from the credits "Rise".

One of my favorite artists (see my sig), Chad Michael Ward, worked as Production Designer. You might want to check out his art if you like what you see in the film. And if you're feeling particularly spendy, buy one of his books.
